We love stories of rescue and redemption, especially when they remind us that every dog deserves a chance at happiness, no matter their past.

On a cold winter day, as a rescue team returned from saying goodbye to one of their beloved dogs, fate brought them to a tiny Pomeranian sitting alone on the street.

With one severely protruding eye and weighing just 2 kg, this small soul would soon begin an incredible journey of healing and love.

A Painful Past

Medical examinations revealed the heartbreaking extent of her condition – her protruding eye couldn’t be saved, and she showed signs of long-term neglect.

Blood tests indicated severe inflammation, while additional examinations confirmed glaucoma had been left untreated for far too long.

The veterinary team concluded this precious pup had endured both abuse and neglect, leaving invisible scars alongside her physical wounds.

Finding Her Voice

Named Hug by her rescuers, this brave little survivor underwent multiple surgeries, including eye removal and patella repair.

Though initially thought to be quiet and reserved, Hug’s true personality began to emerge as she felt safe and loved.

While still wary of men, she discovered simple joys like basking in sunshine and curling up in her human’s lap.

Hug’s journey of discovery continued as she learned about toys, treats, and the warmth of human touch.

Though she didn’t quite understand how to play with other dogs, she watched them curiously, learning from their example.

A New Chapter

Today, Hug thrives in her forever home, mastering tricks like “sit,” “paw,” and “back” with enthusiasm.

Her single eye sees a world filled with love, adventure, and sweet potato cookies made specially by her devoted family.

Looking at her now, contentedly exploring her playground or snuggled in loving arms, you’d never guess the hardships she once faced.

Hug’s story reminds us that with patience, love, and proper care, every dog can find their way to happiness, one gentle step at a time.
