Just 100 meters from the Azil shelter in Sarajevo, a brave dog made the boldest move of her life by jumping in front of a rescue worker’s car.

Her eyes pleaded with unmistakable urgency, seeming to say, “Please, take me with you, don’t leave me here.”

In all their years of rescue work, they had never seen a dog from the shelter venture this far or show such determination to be saved.

The Beginning of a New Life

The rescuers couldn’t resist her heartfelt plea and welcomed her into their care, naming her Jessie.

Her playful personality emerged quickly, earning her the affectionate nickname “Big Butt Girl” for her cheerful waddle.
