On day 15, Alanis underwent an emergency cesarean section that would test the limits of her strength.

Despite suffering four cardiac arrests during the procedure, this brave mother and all five of her puppies miraculously survived.

The initial days were touch-and-go, with Alanis too traumatized to nurse her babies.
